On Saturday, June 7, our Girls on the Run Capital Region community gathered at Central Park in Schenectady for our Spring 5K — and while the weather didn’t go as planned, the spirit of the day was unstoppable.

What started out as a dry day quickly turned as the rain rolled in and a steady rain fell throughout the morning, washing away some of our planned activities but not the determination and joy of the girls who showed up ready to cross that finish line. With wet hair, big smiles, and hearts full of pride, they persevered through puddles and mud to complete what they came to do.

This event wasn’t about perfect conditions or sunny skies — it was about showing up for yourself, for your team, and for the community that’s been cheering you on all season long. We’re so proud of every girl who took part and every coach, volunteer, and family member who braved the rain to be there.
