Setting goals, growing healthier, and supporting one another.  These are some of the things girls are learning with each step they take as part of Girls on the Run.  In this podcast LuAnn McCormick, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Capital Region (GOTRCR) talks about the many ways girls get stronger in this running program.  McCormick talks about why there are no plans for a Boys on the Run, why GOTRCR works with girls in 3rd-8th grade, and why physical ability is not a pre-requisite for the girls or volunteers.

5K Events

Our Fall 5K is Saturday, Nov. 18th, 10AM at the Boat Launch, Corning Preserve, Albany, NY.

Runners of all levels are welcome to join our girls in the Happies Race You'll Ever Run! Register by Oct. 31st to guarantee a race tech shirt and take advantage of reduced pricing in our GOTR store.

Hudson Mohawk Bibs

We have one marathon bib left for the Oct. 8, 2017 Hudson Mohawk races.

Fundraising minimums: $500 half | $600 full 

Our Charity Bib SoleMates Program is more than just a race bib. We expect our SoleMates to be champions of our organization. In return, we provide resources, support and goodies during your training. We also provide an easy-to-use online SoleMates fundraising template page which you must use as part of your fundraising efforts.

Girls On The Run Fall 2017 Program Registration Open

Registration for the Fall 2017 Girls on the Run program is open! We are still adding sites, so if you don't see yours, keep checking back or come to the New Site Information Session on Thursday, June 15th from 7-8PM at the Sanford Library in Colonie.

These girls may not understand it now, or even think about it in the future, but they have each taught me something about every single one of the lessons we have discussed; about teamwork, about real beauty, about friendship, about positivity, about compassion, about physically and mentally healthy behaviors, and yes, about gratitude.
